Introduction
- For Such A Time As This…
- God's timing is always perfect/right.
- He is never too early and never too late.
- Everything God does is timed right and for the right reason, and for the sake of His righteousness.
- God is not limited or hindered by time.
- We are limited by time and restricted by time.
Hebrews 13:8
- For Such A Time As This…
- Mordecai's words to Esther.
- A message of warning.
- A message of reminder… God will have other ways of saving the Jews.
- A message of prophecy… Timeless.
- For Such A Time As This…
- Paul's letter of encouragement to the Christians in Rome. Encouragement…
- God is our hope.
- God is love.
- God is with us.
- In Christ Jesus… Holy Spirit.
- Paul provides the evidence of God's love for us…
- For Such A Time As This… 'At just the right time…' – Romans 5:6.
- '… we were powerless… when things seem to go wrong and hopelessness is a reality…'
A. Christ Jesus Died… for the Ungodly – for us — Romans 5:6; Romans 3:10, 23
God stepped into the midst of the hopeless world/people – In Christ Jesus.
- We are weak – we are powerless to save ourselves, we are helpless and hopeless.
- This is the right time – 'At just the right time' – Romans 5:6.
- There is nothing in us that we can earn our salvation.
- Our Salvation and hope is only possible and available in Christ Jesus alone.
Acts 2:21 | John 4:22
- Only by the grace of God in Christ Jesus that we are given God's salvation.
Ephesians 2:8–9
- We are helpless and powerless to save ourselves.
- This is the key to the Gospel… The good news… 'At just the right time, God stepped in to save mankind.'
- God the Father, God the Son – Jesus Christ, God the Holy Spirit – All involved unitedly in our salvation and hope.
B. God Proved His Love For us… by Acting First
- God did not wait until we became strong and godly or worthy of being saved.
- Our sins made us weak, powerless and helpless.
Romans 6:23
- We did not deserve His love and grace – but God acted in Christ to save us.
Romans 5:8
- He loved us and took action to save us. – Romans 5:8.
- We were sinners… lost but, Christ Jesus died for us.
- God saved us not because we are good or righteous.
- He saved us as sinners — lost and hopeless.
- This is God's love demonstrated toward us guilty sinners.
C. God Showed His Power… By Sending Christ Jesus to Die For us At the Right Time — Romans 5:6–7
- Christ Jesus… Born, Lived, Died and Resurrected at the right time.
- God's timing is always right – His plan for the Lord Jesus.
- This is God's act of love toward us.
- God's timing when Christ died was motivated by His love for powerless sinners – us.
Conclusion — Romans 5:1–2 — 'For Such A Time As This'
God, in Christ Jesus…
- Justified us through faith in Christ Jesus. Vs. 1.
- We have peace with God in Christ Jesus. Vs. 1.
- We gained access to God's all sufficient and unlimited grace in Christ Jesus. Vs. 2.
- We have hope in Christ Jesus. Vs. 3–5.
- We have exceeding joy in Christ Jesus. Vs. 3–5.
For Such A Time As This…
- Just at the right time… Jesus Christ died for us.
- Just at the right time… God stepped in and saved powerless, hopeless and helpless sinners that we are.
- 'For Such A Time as This…' – Christ Jesus came into the world to seek and save the lost.
