Topic: 'Go Home' – To Your Family
Scripture: Mark 5:1–20 | Key Verses: 18–20
Introduction
- Timeless Biblical Truths…
- We are saved only by God's grace through the Lord Jesus.
- We are set free from sin and demonic possessions/oppressions by the power of God in Christ Jesus.
- Authority of Jesus Christ… Matthew 28:20.
- 'All authority…' in heaven and on earth has been given unto me.
- There is no authority greater than Christ Jesus.
- 'All Authority…' Mark 5:1–13.
- Recognized by the demons…
- Revered by the demons…
- Demonstrated…
- Christ Jesus and the demoniac… Mark 5:14–20.
- Set right. Vs. 15.
- Jesus set his mind at peace.
Isaiah 26:3
- The demons controlled his mind. Jesus broke their power.
- Set Free. Vs. 12–15.
- Free from the demon's torment.
- Free from sin and power of sin.
- Only Jesus can set us free from demons.
- Set Apart. Vs. 18–20.
- 'Go.'
- Set apart to serve.
- Set apart unto God.
- Set apart to tell…
- The demoniac's response… Vs. 18.
- He had a desire to follow Jesus… a true sign of genuine conversion…
- He desired/longed to follow Jesus.
- Jesus' Command… Vs. 19.
'Jesus did not let him…'
A. Go… Home — Vs. 19
- Go home to your family and friends.
- Go home to your people.
- Go and make disciples of your family.
God said…
- Abraham… Go and offer Isaac as a sacrifice…
- Moses… Go to Pharaoh. — Exodus 3:10.
- Isaiah… Go and tell them. — Isaiah 6:9.
Jesus Christ said…
Holy Spirit said…
- Philip – go to the road… Acts 8:26/29.
Christ Jesus is saying to you…
- 'Go Home to your Family…'
- Tell them and show them what God has done for you.
B. 'Tell Them…' — Vs. 19
- Tell your family everything that the Lord has done for you.
- Tell them that it was Jesus who set you free.
- Tell them that once you were bound but now you are free.
- Tell them that Jesus sets you free.
- Tell them of the Lord's mercy to you.
- Tell them that God is merciful and gracious.
Psalm 145:8–9
- Our message is amazingly simple and powerful…
- Telling people what the Lord has done.
Conclusion — Vs. 20
- The man obeyed Jesus and went.
- He did not hesitate.
- He is not a trained theologian or pastor or evangelist, apostle, or prophet.
- He was just an ordinary man who met an extraordinary man named Jesus Christ.
- He met Jesus and his life was changed forever…
- Jesus is Theology.
- Jesus is the center of the Bible.
- Jesus has 'all authority.'
- He went to his Family and beyond… Decapolis.
- Christ Jesus left the province…
- Confident in the man.
- Confident that the man will do what he sent him to do…
- Telling his Family what God has done for him.
Today… Christ Jesus is saying to you…
- 'Go Home…'
- Tell your Family and others what the Lord Jesus has done for you.
- Jesus said… 'I will be with you…' – Assurance of His presence.
