Introduction
- What is it that gets you up each morning to face the world and its challenges?
- What drives you to do what you are doing now?
- Jesus… What moved Him to do many things He did?
- Passion to honour His Father.
- Compassion for people.
- Parables.
- What?
- Why?
- Who is the central character in the 3 parables?
- God the Father…
A. His Compassion for People
"The Pain of losing something/someone special"
1. Lost Sheep
The one is just as special as the ninety-nine.
2. Lost Coin
The bracelet is not complete without the lost coin.
3. Lost Son
The pain in the heart of the father when the son walked away from home… 'into a distant country'.
B. His Concern for the Lost
"The Effort/Determination of finding what was lost"
1. The Shepherd
Went searching for the one lost sheep.
2. The Woman
Lit the lamp, swept/cleaned the house searching for one lost coin.
3. The Father
Waited expectantly for his son to return home.
C. His Celebration when the Lost was Found
"The Joy of Finding what was Lost"
1. The Shepherd
Rejoiced and celebrated with his friends and neighbours.
2. The Woman
Rejoiced and celebrated with her neighbours.
3. The Father
Rejoiced and celebrated with the lost son and workers.
Conclusion
- What motivated and moved Jesus…?
- Passion to honour the Father.
- Compassion for people.
- We are living in a world of so many lost people.
- Do you have the passion to honour, please and obey the Father?
- Do you have compassion for lost people?
- Whatever motivates you now determines what you do with your life and time and efforts and resources in the coming days.
- Is honouring God and loving people at the centre of it all?
